We combine both people and technology to sort your batteries to the highest accuracy. This is done for safety and purity of recycled materials.

Every battery we collect is identified, classified and sorted by people. Yes, you read that right. We have a talented and knowledgeable team that visually identifies each battery by chemistry. We send our battery sorters to “Battery School” where they are taught to quickly ID batteries. Providing our sorters with the tools and resources they need to succeed empowers their work lives, reduces errors and increases sorting accuracy.

Meticulous sorting is done for quality assurance and safety reasons. Sorting by chemistry ensures the quality of the recycled materials that come from processing the batteries. For example, it is hazardous if a mercury containing battery is mixed in and recycled with alkaline batteries, since all the recycled materials are reused in the manufacturing sector. Regarding safety, mixing a lithium battery in with a batch of alkaline will cause a fire, since different battery chemistries are processed by different methods. This is why each of our sorters is rigorously trained, through Battery School, prior to graduating to an autonomous sorting.

In addition to our team of sorters, we are the first – and only – North American based company using automated battery sorting and data collection technology. This technology allows us to sort batteries intelligently, based on any criteria we select (chemistry, brand, commercial demand). While sorting, massive amounts of data about those batteries are collected and stored. Due to the cost, this type of intelligent sorting was previously unachievable by manual methods.

We are the largest and most efficient battery sorter in the U.S. We have achieved this by combining the best, highly trained people with intelligent processes and technology in our sorting. We are building upon this foundation to increase our capabilities, offerings and exploring new, previously unexplored depths of statistical knowledge about battery recycling.

UPDATED 7/1/20 – We are OPEN

As circumstances continue to shift, we want to keep you updated on our operation status. An increasing number of states are enacting protections like Michigan’s Stay Home, Stay Safe executive order, limiting operations for non-essential business and shifting many to work from home. As a critical supporter of waste collection, we support essential operations and contribute to the raw minerals supply chain. No matter your battery recycling needs, we are here to help in these unprecedented times. All online orders are being processed as normal but may see delayed shipping times due to the current demand on delivery service providers.

Both our Michigan and Arizona locations continue to operate sending collection solutions, as well as receiving batteries, while observing strict health and safety policies to keep our employees and their families healthy. If you have any questions about the status of your order, please contact our customer service team at or 800.852.8127
