Secondary Commodities

As a result of battery recycling we produce these secondary commodities: steel, zinc and manganese concentrate, nickel and other metals and compounds. These materials have a high purity rate and can be used in the manufacturing of your new products.

Metals & Compounds

In our battery recycling process we use the best methods for recovering the materials found inside alkaline and nickel metal hydride batteries. This results in steel and nickel as a secondary commodity that is excellent to use in manufacturing.

Additionally, we can control purity of the zinc and manganese concentrate by using our sorting technology which allow us strict controls on sorting batteries not only by chemistry but also by brand. In doing so, we have had this concentrate tested resulting in purities so high its completely safe to use as a micronutrient in fertilizer. Corn loves this combination and thrives on it.

It is incredible that the natural elements that power your AA battery also empower the growth of plants. That is truly making the most out of recycling and is an excellent example of the circular economy at work.

UPDATED 7/1/20 – We are OPEN

As circumstances continue to shift, we want to keep you updated on our operation status. An increasing number of states are enacting protections like Michigan’s Stay Home, Stay Safe executive order, limiting operations for non-essential business and shifting many to work from home. As a critical supporter of waste collection, we support essential operations and contribute to the raw minerals supply chain. No matter your battery recycling needs, we are here to help in these unprecedented times. All online orders are being processed as normal but may see delayed shipping times due to the current demand on delivery service providers.

Both our Michigan and Arizona locations continue to operate sending collection solutions, as well as receiving batteries, while observing strict health and safety policies to keep our employees and their families healthy. If you have any questions about the status of your order, please contact our customer service team at or 800.852.8127
